BJP legislator from Ramgarh, Gyan Dev Ahuja, is making inroads into Alwar Urban constituency, which is not going down well with sitting MLA Banwari Lal Singhal. Though there is no past enmity between the two leaders, but Ahuja wants to capture Singhal’s Alwar Urban segment since it is a traditional BJP stronghold.

The district is witnessing a fight between two BJP MLAs, and there is a political story behind it.

Though there is no past enmity between the two leaders, but Ahuja wants to capture Singhal’s Alwar Urban segment since it is a traditional BJP stronghold.

Also, Ahuja fears that the Ramgarh seat, which he won by barely 4,000 votes in the last elections, will give him some tough fight this time, feel political observers.

Meanwhile, Singhal alleges that Ahuja runs the district BJP unit by proxy. Party insiders say district president Inderjeet Singh is Ahuja’s man.

The fight became evident during the party’s membership drive in Kedalganj last week when Singhal and Singh got into a verbal duel as passers-by looked on.

The incident happened when Singhal found his photo missing in the membership campaign poster. Photograph of city BJP president Ghasi Ram Gupta was also missing from the poster. Party workers were divided and shouted slogans in favour of their leaders.

“They want to keep me out of the membership campaign. But they will blame me if the number of members doesn’t increase,” said Singhal, adding that it was a conspiracy against him. However, he didn’t name Ahuja.

Inderjit Singh played down the report of verbal duel, saying such small issues are normal in a party. “We have not put photos of any MLA in mthe embership campaign publicity material,” he said.

This was not the one-off incident of the fight between Singhal and Ahuja. The Ramgarh MLA had at a college function earlier questioned Singhal, saying his Alwar Urban counterpart was a corrupt property dealer and can’t work for common man.

State BJP president Ashok Parnami said he was not aware of the infighting between the two MLAs. He said he would find out details of the matter before making any reaction.
