An edited video of AICC general secretary and former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot was trending on social media on Tuesday.
The video, which later proved to be edited, and showed only a few second of a press conference Gehlot had earlier spoken at. It shows Gehlot as saying, “If electricity is removed from water and the water goes to the farm, such water will have no energy and will be useless in the farm.”
In no time, the video with the hashtag #ScientistGehlot started trending on Twitter.
Gehlot soon tweeted the full clip on Twitter. The clip showed Gehlot saying, “I remember in my childhood when there was Jan Sangh, and Bhakra Dam was being made, these (Jan Sangh) people used to publicise and pester Nehru that he is making dam and build power house…and when electricity will be removed from water and the water goes to the farm, such water will have no energy and will be useless in the farm.”
“They have become genus scholars in spreading falsehood. How they have cut and edited my video and made it a tool to propagate their false agenda, is bizarre. That edited video is an eye-opener how social media is being misused and manipulated to malign the opposition,” Gehlot tweeted in reply.
