Rajasthan reshuffles administration, transfers 81 IAS officers, 15 collectors
The administrative reshuffle could be the last one before the Rajasthan assembly elections later this year.
The Rajasthan government transferred 81 IAS officers in a major administrative reshuffle late Monday night after it named a 1983-batch officer DB Gupta as the new chief secretary.
Collectors of 15 districts and three divisional commissioners have also been changed in reshuffle.
Seven additional chief secretary level officers have also been given new responsibilities. The reshuffle is politically important because this may be the last before the state goes to polls later this year.
Gupta was appointed the new chief secretary following retirement of NC Goel who had the shortest tenure in the highest bureaucratic office of the state for four months.
Both officers were at a wedding when the personnel department got the approval for the new name from chief minister Vasundhara Raje. The CM had gone to Bundi to attend the mass wedding of Meenas and returned to Jaipur by road. Her arrival was delayed by inclement weather.
Gupta, 58, was additional chief secretary (ACS) of finance, excise and taxation departments before he was named the new CS. Mukesh Kumar Sharma has been given charge of the departments Gupta used to handle earlier.
JC Mohanty has been appointed the ACS of Information and Public Relations department, which also has a new commissioner: Dr Rajesh Sharma.
Dr Subodh Agarwal, who was recently moved to the tourism and forest and environment department as its ACS has been shifted to higher and technical education department.
Jaipur divisional commissioner Rajeshwar Singh has been made the principal secretary of rural development department. T Ravikanth replaces him as the new Jaipur divisional commissioner.
Jodhpur and Kota divisions also have new commissioners now. Lalit Kumar Gupta has been posted as Jodhpur commissioner and Kailash Chand Verma as the Kota commissioner.
Collectors of Bikaner, Pratapgarh, Kota, Ajmer, Dholpur, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Bundi, Hanumangarh, Churu, Alwar, Jaisalmer and Bharatpur have been changed.
The collectors are Narendra Kumar Gupta (Bikaner), Bhanwar Lal Mehra (Pratapgarh), Gaurav Goyal (Kota), Arti Dogra (Ajmer), Nannumal Pahadia (Dholpur), Anadhi (Rajsamand), Shuchi Tyagi (Bhilwara), Ram Chandra Dhenwal (Tonk), Prakash Chand Pawan (Sawai Madhopur), Mahesh Chandra Sharma (Bundi), Dinesh Chand Jain (Hanumangarh), Muktananad Agarwal (Churu), Prakash Rajpurohit (Alwar), Anupama Jorwal (Jaisalmer), Sandesh Nayak (Bharatpur).
