Gautama said that the vulnerability mapping exercise was almost over and that the exact quantum of the forces required for the polls would be known shortly.

Vulnerability mapping was done to gauge sensitivity of the areas and was directly related to force requirement.

Gautama said that while 600 companies were deployed during the 2006 polls which was conducted in five phases, the quantity would decline this time as the polls were spread across six phases.

He said like the last time, paramilitary forces would man the polling booths.

Concentration of forces would be the most in the last phases where polls are due in West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia due to known reasons, he said.

While 186 companies had already arrived, 14 more would come, Gautama said.
