Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B has deactivated her Twitter account after facing intense backlash following the launch of her new doll.

Grammy award-winning rapper Cardi B has deactivated her Twitter account after facing intense backlash following the launch of her new doll. On Friday, the rapper took to Instagram to announce the release of her new venture: an original doll modelled after the artist herself. Cardi revealed that she had designed her own doll with the brand Real Women Are. However, it didn't seem to bode well with her fans who have eagerly been waiting for new music from the WAP singer and several of them commented negatively to Cardi announcing her new doll, asking her to release more music instead of products.

After receiving flak, Cardi took to her Instagram and started a Live to set the record straight saying that while she is working on new music, her fans need to be patient as she puts her focus toward other projects which help her build her 'net worth'. She said in the Live, "I have so much pressure. I'm working on a lot of s--- to please people. I wanna please my fans, because y'all been asking for something from me for a very long time that I can't say, and I'm doing it for ya," continuing with a a question for those who were frustrated that she was working on other businesses in the meantime. "How am I supposed to be rich? How am I supposed to build my net worth?"

The backlash ultimately led the rapper to deactivate her Twitter account. Cardi has also deleted her Twitter in past for similar harassment claims of fans questioning her life choices. Cardi had announced the release of the doll on her social media, writing, "BARDI GANG!! I'm dropping my own doll TODAY. Inspired by me. Created by me. Designed by me. Thank you @officialrealwomenare This means sooo much."

Cardi shared follow up videos in which she explained why she decided to design a doll, adding that she plans to expand her doll line to include other artists and people, including those women who do jobs that are traditionally dominated by men sharing that the next doll could be them. "When this doll business got presented to me, one of the reasons I decided to do it is because I'm a girl's mom," the singer went on to add, "Nowadays, these dolls are not like Barbies. They are way more expensive. They come with way more fashion and are way more diverse. They come so chic and I constantly gotta spend money on these dolls. My daughter constantly want me to buy these dolls, she actually has a preference. (sic)"

During an appearance on the Today Show, Cardi explained why she decided to create a doll that looked like her saying, "I have a 2-year-old, right? And I buy dolls every time I go to Target, and they expensive. So somebody came with this idea to me and I’m like, 'That is great, because I would love my daughter to play with a doll that looks like me.'" Cardi continued during the interview, "Growing up, I ain't ever seen a doll that look like me. I ain't ever seen a doll that really represents me. When you go to the doll aisle when you was my age, it's either like there's a real white one or there's a real dark one. And there's barely one that's in the middle. None of them have my style, none of them have my flavour. I want a doll that represents me."

Cardi has also been facing a tough time on the home front with her filing for divorce from her husband and rapper Offset after three years of marriage last September. Their split came after accusations of Offset's infidelity resurfaced, but Cardi called off the divorce in October, the duo are parents to daughter Kulture.
