Lok Sabha 2019 constituency: Mallikarjun Kharge of Congress faces tough fight in Gulbarga
Gulbarga is a reserved seat. Kharge defeated BJP’s Revunaik belamagi by over 70,000 votes in 2014. Belamagi has now joined the Congress and is now a Kharge loyalist.
Congress has given ticket from Gulbarga Lok Sabha constituency to senior party leader Mallikarjun Kharge. He is the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and sitting MP from Gulbarga.
Gulbarga is a reserved seat. Kharge defeated BJP’s Revunaik belamagi by over 70,000 votes in 2014. Belamagi has now joined the Congress and is now a Kharge loyalist.
The BJP’s candidate from Gulbarga is Umesh Jadhav who was until recently a Congress MLA. Jadhav quit the Congress and joined BJP just a few months ago. Jadhav belongs to the Banjara community and is banking on their votes to emerge victorious in what is seen as a close contest with Kharge.
Voting for the Lok Sabha election in Karnataka will be held in two phases on April 18 and April 23. The results will be declared on May 23.
