Lok Sabha polls for all 48 seats in Maharashtra will be held in four phases between April 11 and April 29 and the votes will be counted on May 23.

Maharashtra’s Amravati Lok Sabha constituency, which goes to polls on April 18, is the second largest and most populous city of Vidarbha after Nagpur.

Known as cultural capital of Vidarbha because of its education facilities and cultural heritage, the constituency is held by the Shiv Sena. In 2014, Adsul Anandrao Vithoba of the Shiv Sena defeated Nationalist Congress Party’s Navneet Ravi Rana by over one lakh votes. Vithoba has held the seat since 2009.
