AMU seeks grant from HRD ministry
The Aligarh Muslim University seeks a financial grant of Rs.48 million from the human resource and development ministry to offer better residential facilities to its students.
The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has sought a financial grant of Rs.48 million from the human resource and development (HRD) ministry to offer better residential facilities to its students, a university official said Thursday.
''AMU Vice-Chancellor PK Abdul Aziz has just submitted a plan to the HRD ministry for offering better residential facilities to the hostel inmates,'' AMU spokesman Rahat Abrar told IANS on phone.
The financial assistance expected from the HRD ministry will also be utilised for setting up two more hostels in the campus, he said. The two upcoming hostels will provide residential facilities to 2,000-odd students of the varsity, Abrar added.
The university is not able to offer hostel facilities to about 700 students in every academic session due to the shortage of rooms in the hostels, the official added.
