UP: PM to launch new projects worth Rs 60K cr in state capital on July 29

A mega ground breaking ceremony to be held here on Sunday ( July 29) for launch of new projects worth Rs 60,000 crore will be Yogi Adityanath government’s major attempt to keep the Bharatiya Janata Party’s pre-poll promise of creating more jobs, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the new projects at the ceremony being held to implement 80 of the 1045 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed ahead of Uttar Pradesh Investors’ Summit-2018 organised on February 21 and 22.

If the claims made by the authorities are to be believed, the new projects will create about 2.1 lakh new jobs.

First ground breaking ceremony

The Yogi government will also use the first ground breaking ceremony to build up its image besides giving a message that Uttar Pradesh is back on the road to development.

Special programmes are being organised in all the 75 districts where representatives of industry will be invited to watch live telecast of the ground breaking ceremony. The MPs and MLAs are being asked to attend these special programmes in their respective districts. The state capital is also being spruced up for the event..

Though a break-up of the MoUs being implemented at the ceremony is not available, sources associated with the MoU implementation exercise said heavy industry sector would make a major contribution of about 26% of the total investment, followed by horticulture and food processing sector.

Other contributing sectors include information technology and electronics, housing, textiles, tourism, animal husbandry and power.

The projects of Reliance Jio, Infosys, TCS, PayTM, Adani group, Kanodia group and the BSNL etc are expected to be launched at the ceremony.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had declared that an investment of Rs 4.28 lakh crore had been promised though 1045 MoUs. A special team led by now chief secretary and Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Anoop Chandra Pandey had been formed to provide necessary facilities to the investors to ensure implementation of the MoUs.

Principal secretary industrial development Rajesh Kumar Singh is directly supervising the preparations being made for the ground breaking ceremony. A control room has been set up at the secretariat annexe to coordinate with investors to avoid any last minute embarrassment.

The Prime Minister will also attend the concluding session of the two-day smart city conference being organised here on July 28. A senior officer said Mayors of 100 smart cities selected under the smart city project had been invited to attend the conference.

Modi will launch 94 schemes of Atal Mission For Rejuvenation And Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) on the occasion. He will also interact with the beneficiaries of these schemes in five selected districts through a video conferencing on July 28.
