A case of dowry death has been registered against the husband and in-laws of a woman who was given triple talaq over phone and allegedly locked up for a month without food and water leading to her death, police said on Thursday.
The victim is survived by a six-year-old child. Her sister alleged that the victim’s husband used to beat her up for dowry.
“First she was given triple talaq, then confined inside a room without food and water,” the victim’s sister alleged.
Taking cognisance of the matter, the district police registered a case of dowry death against the woman’s husband and in-laws.
Last week, a woman from Mahoba was reportedly given triple talaq and forced to leave her husband’s house because the ‘chapati’ she had prepared was burnt.
