Superintendent of police (SP), Kasganj, Piyush Srivastav said, “The girl was found at the residence of deputy superintendent of police (Dy SP) Ajay Kumar Singh. Prima facie, she didn’t appear to be confined forcefully because the house was not locked. She has not submitted any police compliant in the matter.”

The woman reportedly told police that she will not lodge any complaint till the Dy SP returns from leave.

“The officer concerned will be back on duty from Thursday. The case will be looked into further once the DySP arrives,” the SP said.

The woman is a resident of Deoria where the Dy SP was posted prior to his posting in Kasganj last year, people familiar with the matter said.

The duo reportedly got in touch as the DySP was the investigating officer in a case concerning the woman, they said.

The woman told reporters on Wednesday that the officer called her to Kasganj after his transfer and kept her with him against her wish. “He used to beat me and even attempted to burn me with fire on one occasion,” the woman told reporters.

The woman is currently under the supervision of a woman inspector.

Taking cognizance of the matter, director general of police OP Singh said, “Every aspect of the DySP’s conduct will be examined. A preliminary investigation has also been ordered on the basis of the complaint given by the woman. After the investigation, the recommendation given by the investigation officer will be implemented.”
