Review: Sex and the City
Disappointingly, the movie adaptation of the long running HBO show, Sex and the City, is neither funny nor engrossing, quips Rashid Irani.

Allright, so it has been one of the most popular American TV series of all time. Disappointingly, the movie adaptation of the long running HBO show (1998-2004) is neither funny nor engrossing.
All superficial style, no substance, the outcome turns out to be more tedious than tantalising. Believe it or brood, Sex and the City : The Movie is likely to exhaust even the most patient of viewers.
The plot is astonishingly puerile. Cut, then, to Manhattan's most sassy bachelorette (Parker). After years of prevarication, the 40-something blonde finally agrees to settle down with her on-again-off-again boyfriend (Chris Noth, expressionless). Now, by a convenient twist of the scriptwriter's imagination, the would-be groom fails to show up at the altar.
So far, so humdrum. Worse, the jilted bride's equally noxious gal pals (Kattrall - Cynthia Nixon - Kristen Davis) are going through similar trials and tribulations. Get reality check, girls.
Littered with smutty situations, corny dialogue and execrable humour, here's much blarney about precious little. Attired in glitzy designer apparel with accessories to match, the quartet which reprises the tele-roles, is embarrassingly inept.
The only decent performance comes from the Oscar-winning Jennifer Hudson in the role of a brash out-of-town assistant. All seen and endured, unless one is a compulsive watcher of the small screen series, this one can safely be skipped.
