Earlier MMRCL had said that it will clean, desilt and divert storm water drains; build sedimentation tank at low lying areas, and provide dewatering pumps and other necessary equipment.

MMRCL assured that the storm water drains and underground utilities diverted at Mumbai Central, Cuffe Parade, Vidhan Bhavan, Churchagate , Hutatma Chowk are in the last stage and will be reinstated by May 31st. Storm water drains, carry storm water to sea during monsoon.

Last week, HT had reported that the BMC directed the Metro agency to fix sewage lines and underground utilities, by May 31, damaged during the Metro-3 (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) work, failing which the latter could be penalised.

The BMC recently identified 17 spots, where flooding is likely owing to ongoing civil, railway and Metro works.
