Car hits trailer in Panvel, one killed

A 43-year-old man from Khopoli died and one of his friends suffered injuries after the car they were travelling in rammed into a trailer on the old Mumbai-Pune highway on Thursday.

According to the police, Santosh Pore and his friend Ishwar Pujari, 29, had come to Panvel for some personal work in the morning. After finishing work, they were on their way home.

“Pore was driving the car and Pujari was sitting next to him. As they were crossing the Kon bridge near Panvel, their car collided with a trailer, which was coming from the opposite direction,” said a police officer from Panvel city police station.

Pore suffered severe injuries in different parts of his body and was rushed to a nearby hospital where died after sometime.

“Pujari also suffered injuries in the accident and is now under surveillance in the hospital,” the police officer said.

The trailer driver fled the spot after the accident, leaving behind the vehicle . The police are now looking for him.
