Fire breaks out at Mumbai’s Crawford Market, 4 fire tenders at spot

The fire, which was reported to be of level two or not a major incident, was first noticed at around 10:50 am at the Super Shopping market complex on 255 Abdul Rahman Street, behind the Jumma Masjid.

A fire broke out near south Mumbai’s busy Crawford market on Monday as four fire tenders were rushed to the site, officials said.

No injuries have been reported so far, according to officials.

The fire, which was reported to be of level two or not a major incident, was first noticed at around 10:50 am at the Super Shopping market complex on 255 Abdul Rahman Street, behind the Jumma Masjid. It was later updated to level two at 10:57am.

Officials of the disaster management cell of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation(BMC) said that at around 11:50am the fire had been covered from all sides and will not spread further.

The fire brigade sent four fire tenders, four JCB’s and one Quick Response Vehicle to the spot. The fire extinguishing operation is still on.

More details are awaited.

A massive fire was reported from a factory in Thane’s Bhiwandi earlier in the morning.
