“Both of them were in touch and the friendship soon turned into a relationship. The couple then visited Lonavla and Alibaug frequently, where Guha clicked intimate pictures of her twice,” said a police officer.

In 2017, the accused started doubting that the woman was cheating on him. To clear his doubts, she sent her mobile phone and two credit cards for him to check. “Guha then used the credit cards to shop. The complainant also sent him Rs3.23 lakh cash as he pleaded for financial help,” said the officer. They had decided to marry, but the girl’s parents were opposed to the alliance.

“In January 2018, after an argument, the accused, who had the mobile phone of the victim with him, uploaded her obscene pictures on Facebook and deleted the same in the morning. The girl started getting calls from her friends as the photographs were uploaded from her account,” said a police officer.

“He repeated the same after a few days . Both times, Guha claims he committed the crime when he was angry,” said the police officer.

Eventually, the woman gave a written complaint to Chembur police and on the basis of her complaint an FIR was registered on May 12, 2018 under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

“The accused was taken in custody from Durgapada in West Bengal on June 13 and was produced in court on June 16 in Mumbai. He has been remanded in custody till June 22,” said Jaywant Sankpal, police inspector, Chembur police station.
