The defense lawyer Sudeep Pasbola, on Thursday, concluded cross examination of Mikhail, key witness in the Sheena Bora murder case. Pasbola sought explanation from Mikhail over several calls he had exchanged with Rai from January 2012 to April 2012. “Between January and April 2012, you were in constant touch with Rai and had talked to him more than 207 times,” Pasbola said. The defense also alleged that between April 16 to April 18, the duo spoke over call almost 34 times.

Passbola also claimed that Mikhail was falsely implicating Indrani in the case. Attributing motive behind, Passbola further alleged that property owned by Mikhail and Sheena’s grandparents were distributed between them. However, Mikhail wanted to grab her share in the property too, for which he hatched a conspiracy with Rai to “cause Sheena’s disappearance.”

Mikhail denied all allegations.

He claimed that his grandparents had already made a new will in April 2012, before Sheena went missing. In the new will, they had bequeathed 90% of the property to him and left only 10% for Sheena, Mikhail told the court negating the allegations made by Indrani’s lawyers.

Meanwhile Pasbola argued on the bail plea filed by Indrani before the CBI court in connection with the murder case.

Pasbola claimed that she has a threat to her life in jail for several reasons. He claimed that she is a witness in the case filed by CBI against P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram.

“She was instrumental in registration of FIR against jail officials in connection with murder of inmate Manjula Shetye,” Pasbola argued pointing the officials are in the same jail where she is and she has threat from them.

Passbola also stressed on her health condition claiming that she needs constant monitoring and good treatment. The court has adjourned the hearing on bail plea for CBI to respond on Monday.
