24-yr-old Mumbai man who stabbed girlfriend remanded in police custody for 7 days

Officials who arrested Shaikh said the couple had been fighting for two days because Nasrin’s phone was engaged at 11.30pm on Saturday, when he tried to call her.

The 24-year-old man arrested by the Azad Maidan police for stabbing his girlfriend 14 times at Oval Maidan on Monday evening, was presented before the court on Wednesday and remanded in police custody for seven days.

Salman Shaikh, a delivery boy for a food aggregator killed his girlfriend Nasrin, 22, who worked at a restaurant in Fort, because he suspected her of cheating on him. The police officers investigating the case said Salman had become obsessed with Nasrin in the three months since they started their relationship.

The officials who arrested Shaikh said the couple had been fighting for the past two days only because Nasrin’s phone was engaged at 11.30pm on Saturday, when Salman tried to call her.

“Salman had called Nasrin on Saturday, but her phone was busy. Salman got so irritated by this that he assumed she was cheating on him. After making around 20 calls to Nasrin and failing to get a reply, Salman called up her sister and then Nasrin’s mother, demanding to talk to her,” said an officer from Azad Maidan police station.
