Mumbai rains: Another tree fall in Dadar leaves four injured
This includes a 20-year-old who was admitted to Hinduja Hospital and is stable now.
In yet another instance of a tree collapse, four people were injured after a tree fell on them near Sena Bhavan in Dadar (West) on Sunday morning.
This includes a 20-year-old who was admitted to Hinduja Hospital and is stable now. The other three were treated and discharged, according to the civic body.
This is the second instance since Saturday when a 13-year-old girl, Drushti Mungra, was killed after a tree collapsed on her on SN Dube Road in Dahisar. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been facing flak for unscientific methods of tree trimming these days.
BMC’s disaster management cell on Saturday said, “The incident took place at 7:55am. Twenty-year-old Shreya Raut is admitted to the hospital, while three others were treated and discharged in the morning.”
Meanwhile, talking about the tree that fell on Mungra, which was on a private land, Sandhya Nandedkar, assistant municipal commissioner of R North ward (Dahisar) said, “We received no complaints and this particular tree showed no signs of danger.”
BMC trims branches of trees which are in danger of falling during rains every year. This year, BMC trimmed 78,658 trees across the city.
