Yuva Sena, the Shiv Sena’s youth wing, formed its first committee on Thursday.
Yuva Sena, the Shiv Sena’s youth wing, formed its first committee on Thursday.
The 17-member team, aged 19 years to late 30s, mainly comprises sons of Sena leaders, members of legislative assembly (MLAs), members of parliament (MPs).
However, there are a few surprises such as Adinath Mangeshkar, nephew of Lata Mangeshkar, and singer Abhijit Sawant.
Referred to as the core committee, the team will look into the functioning of the Yuva Sena. It has an impressive hierarchy line-up with a general secretary, secretaries, spokespersons, treasurer and even a separate parliamentary committee.
“The list has been drawn after four months of observation and scrutiny,” said Aditya Thackeray, president, Yuva Sena.
“Although I did have a say in the process, my grandfather and father put the final stamp on the candidates. We will soon announce list of local office bearers,” he added.
While Amol Kirtikar, son of Shiv Sena leader Gajanan Kirtikar, topped the list with bagging the general secretary’s post, Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik’s son Purvesh and MLA Omraje Nimbalkar, son of slain Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar, made it to the secretary posts.
A parliamentary core committee consisting of MPs Bhavna Gavli, Anand Paranjpe and MLA Balaji Kinikar has been put in place.
This team will help the Yuva Sena put forth its voice in the legislative Assembly and parliament.
Explaining the choice of members in the committee, Aditya said, “We have an interesting mix of people with a varying range of skill sets. While someone like Adinath will help up bridge the gap between youth and culture and entertainment. Ameya Ghole is someone I met during my work on the university elections.”
