An on-duty policeman, Sudhir Ankush Rane, shot himself in the head with his service revolver on Wednesday, minutes after he shot his lover dead in Tardeo. Rane, a police naik from the protection branch, was part of the security team of special Tada court judge GA Sanap.
The police said the 40-year-old was having an extra-marital affair with Sharvari Parvez Khan, 48, and suspect the incident took place after the duo fought over her money-lending business.
Instead of staying at the police staff restroom at Tardeo, Rane had gone to Khan’s home, close by, on Tuesday night. Around 5.30am, he returned to the restroom as his colleagues were getting ready to leave. As a colleague sat tying his shoelaces, Rane lay down in bed, got under a quilt and shot himself. The police later discovered that he had killed Khan.
