Mumbai recorded one of the highest evening temperatures of the season on Thursday, as the cloud cover ensured the mercury touched 29.8 degrees Celsius in south Mumbai. The minimum temperature in the suburbs, however, remained close to the normal mark at 27.8 degrees Celsius.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), various parts of central Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Konkan will get pre-monsoon showers in the coming days. “The cloud cover and winds are an indication that some parts of the state may get pre-monsoon showers soon,” said KS Hosalikar, deputy director general, western region, IMD.

According to IMD officials, a few showers were received in some areas of south Konkan and Goa.

Hosalikar said while the monsoon was expected to hit the Kerala coast by May 30, it may get delayed by four days. “The city gets rains 10-12 days after Kerala,” he said.

Maximum temperatures in south Mumbai fell to 34.6 degrees Celsius, while the suburbs recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7 degrees Celsius.

The humidity levels in Colaba were 80% in the day and 77% in the evening. In Santacruz, the humidity level touched the 68%-mark in the day, and 67% in the evening.
