The BEST runs 1,561 CNG-run buses.

Of these Ashok Leyland had manufactured 800 as CNG-run buses, and converted the remaining 761 vehicles to run on CNG.

“Technicians’ teams from Ashok Leyland are working at 10 BEST depots, inspecting the CNG buses. Till date, they have changed faulty pipes in more than 258 buses,” said OP Gupta, BEST general manager, at a committee meeting on Tuesday.

The company has decided to change the gas pipes in all the 800 vehicles it had manufactured.

“We have made the necessary replacements in the buses and will comply with all the provisions of the contract and make good any losses to the customer [BEST],” said Vinod Dasari, managing director (designate) of Ashok Leyland.
