The sting operation was conducted by a social organisation which had, in the past, received several complaints about the doctor from couples.

According to Sunil Patil, the investigating officer, the accused, who has a dispensary on the second floor of the Mahalaxmi hotel in Kalyan, would charge Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 for his treatment.

During inquiry, the Kalyan police found out that he has a degree from North India but is not registered with the Homoeopathic Council of Maharashtra.
