According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rain between 8.30am and 8.30pm at Colaba and Santacruz was 4mm and 7.8mm respectively. “The rain is expected to increase as the off-shore trough, which is currently over the coast from Kerala to Karnataka, is expected to move over the coast of Maharashtra,” said VK Rajeev, director, western region, IMD.

Moisture levels were similar to Sunday, with 83% at Colaba and 75% at Santacruz.

The quantum of rain recorded in July has been 29.3mm at Santacruz and 18.4mm at Colaba.

Day temperatures were a degree above normal at 31.4 degree Celsius in south Mumbai and 31.6 degrees Celsius in the suburbs. Minimum temperatures increased to 27.2 degrees Celsius (1.9 degrees Celsius above normal) in Colaba, but went down to 26.4 degrees Celsius in Santacruz (1.1 degree Celsius below normal).

Weathermen have predicted occasional spells of rain in the city and suburbs where one or two spells might be heavy. The maximum temperature is expected to be 32 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature is expected to be 26 degrees Celsius.
