The court on Saturday directed Nagrale and his wife to appear before the ACB’s director general of police on December 28 with necessary documents to prove their points.

Nagrale’s wife, Pratima, had also filed a petition in court that he had assets beyond his income.

Married in 1990, the couple was granted divorce in February. They have two children.

Pratima had filed a petition in October 2008, alleging that Nagrale had opened three bank accounts in her name and was operating them. She also alleged he had purchased 12 properties either in her name or his own in four districts of the state.

Nagrale opposed the petition stating it was filed to settle scores.

He said the properties and bank accounts were shown in Income Tax returns filed in Pratima’s name and, therefore, did not need to be declared before the state government.

The court refused to heed the claim.

The bench said: “…[the case] requires further inquiry and the same cannot be brushed aside only on the plea that… she is trying to take revenge.”

The HC has told the ACB to conduct a detailed inquiry into transactions of the bank accounts and properties.
