Police seized around 400 rounds of live ammunition and three revolvers during searches conducted at the office and residential premises of former Mumbai Congress chief Kripashankar Singh and his family members on Friday.
The search operation, ordered by the Bombay High Court, was on till late night. "The process will continue till we cover each and every property," said sources.
Singh was held responsible for the party's debacle in the recent local body elections. On February 22, he quit the party post. The same day, the high court directed the Mumbai police to register an FIR against Singh and his family members in a disproportionate assets case.
Sources said over 150 constables and officers, drawn from the economic offences wing, crime branch and a special team, simultaneously swooped down on over half a dozen of properties of Singh and his family members around 8am.
The properties searched are among the 19 belonging to Singh and his family mentioned by social activist Sanjay Tiwari in a public interest litigation (PIL).
The PIL was converted into an FIR for investigation on the court's direction.
Sources said six high-end vehicles - including two BMWs - were also attached during the search.
"As per the court's order, we had to attach (put in judicial possession) the immovable properties while conducting search and seizure of movable properties," said sources.
Sources said Singh and his family could live in the attached premises, but not sell, rent out or lease out these properties unless directed by the court after the submission of the investigation report by the Mumbai police commissioner.
