Shikha Joshi suicide: Cops speak to flat owner again

Two days after actor Shikha Joshi was found dead, the police on Tuesday recorded the second statement of the flat owner, Madhu Bharti.

Bharti had earlier claimed Joshi was alone in the Mhada Colony flat at Lokhandwala at the time of the incident. But during the investigation, the police learned that Bharti and some others were present in the flat, when Joshi was found with her throat slit. While Bharti questioned Joshi about the reason behind the extreme step, another woman recorded it on her phone. “The mobile phone of the other woman has been seized,” said an officer.

Investigators have learnt that those present in the flat wasted more than 30 minutes, after they found Joshi lying in a pool of blood. Bharti allegedly waited for her husband, who was in Malad, and another friend to reach the flat to take Joshi to the hospital.

The police have sent the mobile phone and finger prints found in the flat for chemical analysis. The police will match the voice recording in the clip with her original one, obtained from the TV serials she has acted in. The police are also checking the call data records of Bharti and others who were present in the flat.

Joshi’s brother has blamed Bharti and a doctor for ruining her life. The police also plan to record the statement of the doctor, whom she had accused of molestation in 2011.
