As the city waits to hear the verdict on Mohammed Ajaml Amir Kasab, the lone surviving Pakistani gunman in the 26/11 attacks, the police have put Mumbai under close surveillance and tight security.
The special court’s verdict is expected to be delivered on Monday in the Arthur Road jail premises.
You can expect slower traffic as there are likely to be nakabandis across the city as well as special surveillance at Mumbai’s six entry-exit points, said sources in the Mumbai police.
The jail compound, where the trial was underway for more than a year, already has more than 200 paramilitary personnel from Indo-Tibetan Border Police guarding it round-the-clock. On Monday, the team will have reinforcement. “We have reinforcements to ensure security remains fool-proof,” said Rajnish Seth, joint commissioner of police (law and order).
