According to the police, two unidentified persons entered builder and developer Tajjudin Maredia's first floor office in Sagar City at Andheri (W) around 1.30pm on Wednesday. “The two men asked ‘Can we come in?’ and as soon as they entered the office they fired a bullet at Sumit Sonawane (24), the sales executive,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police (DN Nagar Division) Dilip Suryavanshi.

The police added that when the incident took place, two other employees Poonam and Hasan were also present.

Based on the trio’s description of the assailants, the police will be preparing their sketches. The police suspect extortion to be the reason behind the attack, but are waiting for Maredia’s statement to ascertain the exact motive.

Also a police official said that they suspect gangster Ravi Pujari’s involvement behind the firing. “We will see if Maredia or Sonawane had any personal enmity due to property,” Suryavansh said.
