The Ulhasnagar police are looking for three unknown thieves who barged into a flat on Thursday night, threatened a woman at knifepoint and escaped with cash and jewellery of around Rs 21 lakh.
PI Siddharath Wagh of Ulhasnagar police station said the incident took place in a building at Siru Chowk. Pushpa Hariram Lohana, 56, lives on the first floor while her son and daughter-in-law live on the second floor of the same building.
Around 3.30 am, three men broke into Lohana’s flat and threatened her with a knife. They then ransacked the lockers and boxes and grabbed gold worth Rs 21 lakh and cash of around Rs 20,000.
Lohana said, “I was so frightened and in no position to call anyone for help. They took every single piece of jewellery I had, even the ones I was wearing.” She said the jewellery was around 30 years old and had memories attached to them.
The police said they had got their hands on the CCTV footage from the camera installed in the locality. Three men could be spotted in the footage, but as it was night time their faces are not clear.
However, the footage can be used as evidence against the accused in future, police said. An autorickshaw, too, was seen in the footage, and the police are looking for the driver.
