Singer Falguni Pathak, who is known for her performances at Navratri events, says she will release her new single soon.

Falguni Pathak, who is the undisputed queen of Navratri performances, is gearing up for another season that starts on October 13. This year, the 52-year-old will do shows for 10 days in Borivali. “I’ll be doing shows in Borivali for the first time in my 23-year-long career. I’m looking forward to the experience,” says Falguni.

The singer, who has several hit singles to her credit, including ‘Chudi jo khanki haath mein’, ‘Maine payal hai chhankai’, ‘Meri chunar udd udd jaye’ and ‘Yaad piya ki aane lagi’, among others, says she will soon release another one this year. “I have been working on a romantic number, which is in Hindi. If everything goes according to plan, I will release it this year,” says the singer, who performs Marathi, Punjabi and Rajasthani songs, besides singing Bollywood tracks during her acts.

Ask her why she keeps a low profile through the year, and she says, “This is my nature. I do shows around the year, but I am not so media-savvy. I have always been like this.”

Falguni also reveals that even though she got several offers to sing in Bollywood films, she never thought of taking them up. “I never took Bollywood seriously. I did get offers, but when you enter Bollywood, you need to work doubly hard. I was happy doing my shows and albums,” she says.

Even though newer names such as Rahul Vaidya, Bhoomi Trivedi and Mauli Dave, among others, are gradually gaining popularity for their performances during the Navratri festivities, Falguni is unperturbed by the influx of new artistes. “Since I started, I never thought of competition. I give it my best, and I only focus on the fact that the audience should get their money’s worth. Over the years, I have seen people’s responses growing. Normally, you would expect that the interest levels will dip, but it has been the opposite when it comes to my performances,” says Falguni.
