If you are an ardent lover of the genre, looking to celebrate International Jazz Day in style, make sure you don’t miss this celebration in the city that will witness musicians and poets from all over the world.

Iconic American bassist Ray Brown once said, “Jazz is something you have to feel, something you have to live.” And well, if you’re one of those who agree with Brown, an upcoming celebration in town is just for you. Curious to know what we’re talking about? Let us explain.

On the occasion of International Jazz Day, The Piano Man Jazz Club in partnership with the UNESCO and United Nations Development Programme (to promote the United Nations 17-point Sustainable Development Goals initiative), is all set to host a line-up of some of the best jazz artists from India and around the world — artists who will take lovers of the genre in the city on a non-stop seven-hour musical journey.

“Jazz is alive, [and] to celebrate it in its true spirit, we are bringing together incredible musicians to interact, to create magic on the spot and to share that with the audience. We are proud to partner with UNESCO, an organisation which is instrumental in promoting culture the world over as well as UNDP, to include social responsibility in our programming. It’s going to be an incredible evening with seven hours of unforgettable performances. Don’t miss it,” says Arjun Sagar Gupta, founder, The Piano Man.

The stellar line-up of over 20 musicians and five poets will include artists from over different parts of the world — Sava Boyadzhiev (Bulgaria), Shary Rose (Cuba), Nikhil Mawkin (Delhi), Fidel Dely (Panama), Carlos (Venezuela), Pradyumna Singh Manot (Calcutta), Rahul Rai (Darjeeling) and Parvati Mohanakrishnan.

Apart from all the jazz, there will be spoken word performances themed on the UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goals, too. “I’m very excited and I cannot wait to be part such an amazing marathon celebration of jazz! Los Gatos will bring a strong hour of Latin jazz music with the impetus of dance. Jazz and Latin music, both, are rooted in the people and their dance. Los Gatos will focus on this energy while honouring the musical history and tradition of Latin Jazz,” says Shary Rose.

Delhi-based musician Divij Kapoor says that it’ll be a night to remember. “For the very first time, twenty plus artists, all with different stylistic fortes [will be] playing together! It’s going to be a treat for someone who loves music, a thrilling and exciting show for the audience and for the musicians as well. All the teams/bands are very excited for this event. And people can expect this to a night to remember.”

So, if you’re all up for some New Orleans Jazz Festival style feels, head to this event (and, thank us later).
