Who are they?
Sufi-rock band Lafz-e-Dilli.

Why should you care?
Their music is blended with soothing melodies with a tinge of Rock and Sufi. The band’s major sound is a confluence of ancient classical music and new age western musical instruments.

How long have they been around?
It was formed in December 2009, though the members of the band have been musicians professionally for the past seven years.

Why this name?
Lafz means ‘words’, which are needed for reaching the soul. They chose this name as it symbolises that the band wants to reach the hearts and soul of people.

What makes them click?
Original compositions and good stage performances.

They love to perform in Delhi. Why?
The Delhi audience is more energetic and enthusiastic in terms of Sufism and Indian classical music in comparison to other cities.

The Delhi audience is slowly acquiring a taste for rock music.

Yes, they give bands a good platform to perform and become recognisable.

Who are your inspirations?
We are inspired by the great works of artists such as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Shafaqat Amanat Ali and Kailash Kher.

Your band is remembered for?
We were the winners of the national level musical hunt - Battle of Bands. We also won the FestinoBeats 3.0 Sufi Battle of Bands 2011.
