Shibani teams up with Rabbi Shergill
Shibani Kashyap jams with Rabbi Shergill to record an R&B track for upcoming album. The singer says her admiration for the Punjabi Sufi rock singer comes from the fact that he is a perfectionist.
Singer Shibani Kashyap’s long time dream of collaborating with Rabbi Shergill is finally coming true. She says, “It will be a chance for both of us to reinvent our music.” The duo is collaborating on an R&B song for Shibani’s yet-to-be-titled album, which is being co-produced with Beat Factory Music. She says, “The song will have some Urdu lyrics,” she reveals.
The singer says her admiration for the Punjabi Sufi rock singer comes from the fact that he is a perfectionist. She says, “I have known Rabbi for over 16 years now. He believes in himself, his music. What I love about his music is that it is politically charged and anti-establishment. He doesn’t follow the rules and his music is thought-provoking.”
So far, the Ho Gayi Hai Mohabbat singer has recorded two songs for her next outing. Shibani, who performed at Nokia Music Connects 2011, says, “The first song is a walk down memory lane and the other one is about love.”
Besides her own album, Shibani recently recorded a song for a ‘Don’t drink and drive’ campaign. It’s an experimental initiative, done solely for online listeners. Her upcoming Bollywood work includes a song for Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout at Wadala, and an item song for Udita Goswami’s A Diary of a Butterfly among others.
