The administration has set up an election control room at the collectorate in Greater Noida. People can get in touch with the appointed officials at the centre. District programme officer DK Singh will be heading the control room.

The administration has also provided phone numbers of nodal officers for citizen to contact on if there is any confusion or complaint. “We are giving out number of officials concerned to the public. People can also call on the call centre number to register their complaints. The model code of conduct has been enforced and all the political parties will have to adhere to it,” BN Singh, district magistrate, said.

According to the guidelines of ECI, no hoarding or poster can be put on government or public property. Photographs of political functionaries will be removed from government’s official sites.

The election commission has also suggested that each district have a media centre to spread awareness on election related guidelines both to the voters and political parties.

The administration is also going to reach out to educational institutions and the civil society to help spread election related awareness among the public and other stakeholders. Release of funds under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Schemes will be subjected to restrictions. No release of fresh funds will be allowed.

No new work can be started using these funds as the model code of conduct is in place. But there will be no curb on release of payments for completed works, subject to the full satisfaction of the officials concerned.

Voters in Gautam Budh Nagar will be able to highlight all instances that are against the code of conduct through a mobile phone application (available for android phones) called the citizen vigilance app.

The application will make it possible for the people to upload videos and pictures of politicians, party supporters or any other person who breaches the code of conduct by distributing money or other objects to lure votes, putting up posters, etc.

The video or picture can be posted only if it has been taken through the application. No pictures from the gallery can be posted on this application. The posted pictures and videos will appear at the district election control room.

The incumbent MP from Gautam Budh Nagar is Dr Mahesh Sharma from the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The elections were held in Noida on April 10 in 2014 and the district had over 1,881 polling stations. There were about 12 lakh registered voters in the district during last general polls.
