How India celebrated Sakshi Malik’s ‘golden’ bronze at Olympics

Sakshi Malik brought an end to India’s long wait for a medal at the ongoing Rio Olympics, clinching bronze in the Women’s Freestyle 58kg category with a spirited comeback victory over Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan.

India sacrificed its sleep on Thursday, a token gesture of appreciation for the decades of hard work and sacrifice made by Sakshi Malik. The wrestler from Rohtak, did not disappoint, lifting the gloom over the country’s Rio Olympics campaign with a historic bronze medal, the first by an Indian female wrestler at the quadrennial event.
