Jeev hopes to carry good form into World Cup

After becoming the first Indian golfer to finish in the top 10 of a Major, Jeev Milkha Singh wants to carry his current form at the upcoming Omega Mission Hills World Cup 2008, reports Vinod Kumar.

After becoming the first Indian golfer to finish in the top 10 of a Major, Jeev Milkha Singh wants to carry his current form at the upcoming Omega Mission Hills World Cup 2008. “I am quite happy with the results I have achieved at the PGA Championship. And it becomes more special when you are the first one from your country to achieve some thing which no one has been able to achieve before,” said Jeev, who finished at a creditable tied ninth in the PGA Championship recently.

Currently ranked 60 in the world, the 36-year-old will team up with Jyoti Randhawa to represent India in the prestigious World Cup scheduled to place at China in November.

This will be the 36-year-old's first appearance for the country at the World Cup. “We have a strong team and it won't be an exaggeration to say that so far this is the best Indian team participating in the competition. We both are playing well and I am sure we will deliver good results.”

Jeev also feels an doing well at the World Cup will give the sport a big boost in India. “A good result at the World Cup will be a really good for golf in the country.

“It will give our young player's a lot of confidence to perform well at the international level,” he said. Talking about his injury, Jeev said: “My right ankle is getting better. I am under going physiotherapy.

“The therapy is important if I have to carry on for the rest of the season ahead which is quite hectic,” he added.
