"Absolutely. Yes. We are happy to have such concept based stores. As a partner both we and Planetsports have found this concept encouraging. Today's store is a testimony for us," Nike India marketing director Avinash Pant told reporters in Chennai.
The company, which has about 3,000 touchpoints across the country, inaugurated the first concept based store – Nike House of Cricket also, the third in the country.
Nike India has opened similar concept stores with PlanetSports in New Delhi and Mumbai respectively.
Elaborating on the concept stores, Pant said whether it comes for footwear or apparel, the House of Cricket and Football concept in Mumbai and New Delhi has got "good response".
"We are super excited about bringing the concept here to Chennai", he said.
A company official said the domestic sportswear industry is valued at Rs 3,500 crore, 60% of which constitutes the footwear segment.
