Located on Senapati Bapat Road, Agent Jack’s has put up a board in the entrance lobby describing rules and regulations and asking the patrons to follow them. One of rule that the bar has put up, clearly says “Guests wearing slippers, shorts, track pants, bermuda etc will not be allowed.” Viraj Muno, an engineer ,said “After hotel staff denied us permission,we approached the manager and explained the situation. He asked us to follow the rules. We have submitted a complaint to Chaturshrungi police station asking them to take strict action against Agent Jack’s.”

“Such private rules in various establishments are overriding the fundamental rights given by Indian constitution,” he added.

Goldie Narang, owner, Agent Jack’s said, “There were 5 of them who were wearing slippers and shorts, and we denied them entry into the pub/ restaurant. We have a mandatory rule and a dress code for the patrons to our premises. Earlier we have similar incidences where people walked in dressed in their shorts, making other guests uneasy. Why would we turn away a paying customer, it is just that they must maintain the the decorum within the pub.”

Dayanand Dhome , senior inspector, Chatushrungi police station said,”On Tuesday, four engineers approached us over the issue but such incidence are not under our jurisdiction. Civic bodies should only look into the matter as they only issue licences.”
