Two labourers from J&K killed in Undri road accident

Two college students were also severely injured in the mishap.

Two men were killed and two college students were severely injured in a road accident in Undri, Kondhwa around midnight on Sunday. The two deceased were identified as Sanjeevsingh Jaswantsingh, 24, and Pralhadsingh Karnalsingh, 40, both residents of the Kumar Palace labour camp in Undri.

The damage suffered to the Splendor was estimated to be worth 20,000, while the damage to the KTM bike was estimated to be worth 15,000, according to the police.  

The two injured college students were identified as Rohan Rizwan Contractor, 21, and Jiah Iqbal Habib, 20, both residents of Konark Puram in Kondhwa. The two suffered injuries to their limbs and head, and are undergoing treatment.

"They are both undergoing treatment at Ruby Hall Clinic Hospital (near Pune station). Their condition is critical," said Vivek Padvi, police sub inspector (PSI) of Undri police outpost, under the jurisdiction of Kondhwa police station.  

A case under Sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 304(a) (causing death due to egligent driving), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 119/177 of Motor Vehicle Act was registered against Contractor, who was driving the motorbike.  

The police spoke to three eye witnesses of the accident and registered a case based on a complaint lodged by Hawaldar Suresh Bhapkar. The two labourers were heading towards Kadnagar chowk from NIBM road when Contractor sped towards them and rammed into the Splendor. They were all rushed to Sassoon General Hospital where the two labourers were pronounced dead.
