About 100 migrants from UP, who were allegedly forced into bonded labour, were rescued from two brick kilns in Tanda block late Friday and sent to their respective native places.

The district administration had received a communication from union minister of road transport and highways Oscar Fernandes, asking for appropriate action.

Deputy commissioner Tanu Kashayap marked the enquiry to Dasuya sub divisional magistrate Barjinder Singh on whose directions a team of civil and police officials raided the kilns in Nathupur and Jalalpur and rescued the workers and their families.

The migrants alleged that they were not being paid due wages nor allowed to leave the job. They were taken to the railway station and sent back to their home state.

About a month ago, 33 migrants from Chhatisgarh were rescued by social activists with the assistance of the local administration from a brick kiln in Bathula village of the district.
