It may be recalled that senior Congress leader and Sanaur MLA Lal Singh had alleged that Adaltiwala possessed illegal land which belonged to villagers of Devigarh block in his native Adaltiwala village, which falls under Sanaur. The AAP candidate threatened to file a defamation case against Lal Singh, if the latter did not apologise for the allegation.

"Neither me nor my father has ever been involved in any such case. If anyone has suspicions about this, they may refer the village land records or approach the police for detailed information," he said.

"It is a cheap move by the Congress, which had tasted defeat in Patiala during the parliamentary polls, to damage my reputation," remarked Adaltiwala.

He also claimed that Lal Singh felt threatened by him as they both hailed from Sanaur and Singh considered him a major threat to his political career.

Meanwhile, Lal Singh could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
