Ravjot Singh, who is caretaker of his NRI sister’s house, had accused Pritam Kaur, an NRI, Darshan Singh Malhi, resident of Ranike village and Kulwant Singh, a court bailiff, for allegedly grabbing the house, following which an FIR was lodged in August 2013.

During proceedings of the case, ASI Suchha Singh of EO wing had submitted a report in the sessions court on October 4 last year stating, “I visited the disputed site and found that there were no arrangements of electricity at the house, and except the main gate, no doors or windows could be found in any of the rooms of the house.”

Taking note of the ASI’s report, all suspects were granted anticipatory bail.

When Ravjot asked the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited regarding the status of electricity, he got a contradicting reply.

In an RTI application, he asked the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited whether there was no electricity connection in the house. The department replied the house had a three-phase electricity connection since 1991.

“The user has last deposited a sum of Rs 6,440 in November, 2013,” stated the reply from the PSPCL.

Thereafter, Ravjot filed a complaint with the police commissioner accusing the assistant sub-inspector of filing a false report, seeking action, and also submitted relevant documents. However, he alleged that the police were yet to take action against the ASI.
