Chandigarh residents will soon be able to get the police clearance certificates within 48 hours as the Chandigarh Police will launch the online facility during the police week celebrations beginning November 24.

With the facility, the residents will need not visit the police headquarters or the area police station for the clearance certificate.

The residents have to face problems in getting the police clearance certificates, especially when the required urgently.

The residents will need to key in basic details on the police website for getting the certificate.The details will then be forwarded to the area police concerned for the issuance of certificate.

About two months back, the Chandigarh Police had launched the online registration of daily diary report (DDR) for lost articles with mobile and web-based application. More than 345 residents have availed the services and lodged the DDR online till now.

During the police week, the the smart identity card system for cops would be launched.

Moreover, the city will also get five more police stations, which would also be inaugurated during the week. The new police stations would come up in IT Park, Sarangpur and Sector 49.

The police week will be launched on November 24 with a cultural evening for cops and their families. Sports activities would also be conducted for the cops during the week. There will be volleyball and kabaddi matches besides a golf tournament.

UT inspector general of police RP Upadhyaya said the police week this time was aimed to honour the cops for their services and to introduce digitised services for residents. “This time the cops who have excelled in sports will also be honoured,” he said.
