Member of the national executive committee of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jalandhar central MLA Manoranjan Kalia, on Thursday, flayed Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal for dragging veteran BJP leader LK Advani into Operation Bluestar controversy.
Bhattal had, on Wednesday, demanded an apology from Advani claiming that he had mentioned in his autobiography 'My Country, My Life' as to how he pressed the then prime minister Indira Gandhi to launch Operation Bluestar.
"Advani reacted on the conditions created due to carelessness shown by Congress prime minister Indira Gandhi on this sensitive issue.
Had Indira Gandhi acted intelligently and timely, the operation could have been avoided," Kalia said, while addressing mediapersons.
"BJP has always opposed terrorism. Bhattal should clear her stand on Operation Bluestar. Was it justified or not? She should also tell publically that had she conveyed her feelings to then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi? She had the habit of poking her nose unnecessarily in the issues of BJP. Earlier too, she opposed the demand of giving Bharat Ratna to Vajpayee raised by different sections of society," Kalia said.
Kalia also attacked Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for giving confused and vague answers to the simple questions at his first television interview.
"It is up to the nation to decide that whether a confused personality is suitable for the post of prime minister or not," he said.
