Boating restricted at Sukhna Lake, water level lowest in three years

Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO) took the decision after the daily measurement revealed the level (1,152 feet), the lowest in the past three years.

The UT administration restricted boating only to some portions of the lake on Monday after the water level fell 11 feet below the required level of 1,163 fee to 1,152 feet. Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO) took the decision after the daily measurement revealed the level (1,152 feet), the lowest in the past three years.

With the water evaporating fast, at some a long thin strip of land has emerged and on the side of the lake, the water level us just one-and-a-half feet.

“We take a call on boating after a daily measurement of the water level. We are not plying the cruise boat these days. The water level has receded to expose portions of the lake bed.”
