Brace for a hotter Sunday in Chandigarh; rain expected next week
The weather department has predicted rain on May 8,9,10.
Even as the sun continues to breathe down heavily on the city, the Meteorological Department has said temperature will rise by another one or two degrees on Sunday .
The maximum temperature on Saturday was 40 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees above normal and 2 degrees more than that recorded on Friday, leaving residents scurrying for ways to beat the heat. The minimum temperature recorded on Friday night was 23 degrees, one degree above normal.
“Though the sky will remain partly cloudy on Sunday, the temperature will rise during the next two days,” said Surender Paul, director, India Meteorological Department, Chandigarh.
However, residents can expect some respite from the heat next week, as the weather department has predicted rain on May 8,9,10.
“Rain and thunderstorm is expected from Monday afternoon onwards, though their chances are more on Tuesday,” said an official from the Met department.
