Mathematics has always haunted students. Class 12 mathematics exam of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday was no different with students saying the questions in the exam were a difficult nut to crack.
Students said even the exams of chemistry and physics were easier in comparison, as they expressed their disappointment. They could be seen discussing the problems with their friends and asking teachers about methods required for solving them.
A student, Sehaj Deep, said she had never expected that the exam would be so tough as she had prepared well but the exam proved to be much more difficult.
“I am expecting more than 85% marks in chemistry and physics but maths exam is making me worry as it may bring down the overall percentage in Class 12,” said Deep.
Sanjay Kumar said the questions in the exam were tricky and the exam was lengthy too as the tough problems required a lot of time to tackle them.
“I am now pinning my hopes on the examiner that I may be given step-wise marks,” said Kumar.
Taranjeet said he had never found mathematics a tough subject but after seeing the question paper, he felt as if he had not studied anything.
“I had scored good marks in pre-board exams and was expecting the best in the board exams,” he added.
Students had expected to feel like free birds after the maths exam but it had instead led them to worrying more about the dip in marks.
Randeep Singh said he had studied question papers of previous years and sample papers too, but this year the exam proved to be tougher.
Bavninder Singh said, “All through the exam, I was waiting for the exam time to get finished fast because it was so irritating to wait with the problems not being a cake walk.”
