"The yoga session will be performed all over the country by the NCC cadets. This will be an attempt to make it to the Limca Books of Records by making many cadets perform yoga at the same time," says Nitin, care taker officer of the NCC.

City colleges have also come up with their plans to celebrate International Day of Yoga. The National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) are delighted to celebrate the day by conducting a yoga session of 35 minutes.

A yoga session will be also be organised at Sukhdev Singh Bhawan, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). The one-hour yoga session will commence at 7 am by PAU's Retries Welfare Association. "Yoga is an important practice in order to remove negative blocks from the mind and toxins from the body. It helps in keeping the mind calm and body fit. Yoga is helpful as it also increases the power of concentrating," says the avid practitioner of yoga, Jila Ram Bansal (80), president of this association.

Bansal said, "Health is everything. Yoga makes one fit so it is the best natural way to follow the fitness track. Even if 30 minutes are taken out for yoga everyday, it can prove very fruitful. Moreover, one must keep in mind that if you do not have time for exercise, you will have to find time for illness."

Even the social media is being used as a very powerful tool to promote the day. The newsfeed on Facebook are flooded with posts to highlight the importance of yoga and the day. Even a special portal has been designed by various departments of the Union government to highlight the eminence of yoga. Interestingly, some of the social networking users have also promised to daily take out time for yoga, not just on June 21.

The youth of the city is eager for the day to come."Yoga has always been a part of the Indian culture. Yoga is not a practice to be prescribed by the doctor. Allotting a day as International Yoga day is a great initiative," says Harneet Kaur, a college student along her friends. People feel that celebrating yoga day will popularise it.
